Success Story – Meet the Team!
Our final success story of 2024 features the individuals who are responsible for, who enable, facilitate and oversee ACTAsia’s myriad successes. The heart of ACTAsia is its small yet diverse founding: our tireless team!
This year, ACTAsia celebrated our 10th International Sustainable Fur Free Fashion Festival and our third annual Plant Forward campaign in Asia. ACTAsia was proudly represented by our talented vets at the WSAVA World Congress and saw incredible turnout at our fourth Earth Day programme. Our award winning Caring for Life (CFL) Education for Children has continued to grow and flourish, with rural schools joining the curriculum. 2024 has been a big year at ACTAsia and it has everything to do with the incredible team that embodies our compassionate message.
ACTAsia’s efforts and impact in education about and for social, animal, and environmental advocacy is astounding. It comes as a surprise to many that, despite the expansive scope and breadth of ACTAsia’s work, our team is comprised of only a few people who work remotely around the world. Our valuable members collaborate across China, the United Kingdom, the USA, Canada and Europe. It is through the ACTAsia team’s passion and tireless dedication to building a more compassionate world that the success of our organisation is made possible.

Meet the team

Summed up in three words, Dawn’s resolute commitment to ACTAsia can be summed up in three words: “Making a difference.”
ECHO, Head of Programmes in China, has been working at ACTAsia for nearly eight years and lives in Guangdong. She first joined ACTAsia as a student volunteer for CFL Education for Children in 2012. What has kept her at ACTAsia for so long is “the team’s inclusive, trusting and simple atmosphere, as well as the ability to constantly grow,” she says.

Monica has been with ACTAsia for one and a half years. “I have always been passionate about philanthropy, particularly in the fields of animal and humanitarianism,” she says. “ACTAsia stands out due to its forward-thinking, root-cause-focused solutions and unwavering mission.”
YVONNE, China Programmes Officer, was drawn to ACTAsia a year and a half ago due to her conviction in the power of education. “Behavioural changes come from thinking about change, which can never occur instantly,” she says. “Caring for Life Education for Children allows children to become responsible and capable of change.”

HANLU, Education for Children Project Officer in China, is in her first month at ACTAsia. “My story with ACTAsia is just beginning,” she says. “ACTAsia’s idea of creating a more compassionate world for people, animals and the environment perfectly fits my values and imagination for the future.”
ROBBERT is a key volunteer who lives in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He has been volunteering with ACTAsia for four years, providing translations for our Dutch language website. “I get a sense of pride out of working for ACTAsia,” he says, “the awareness that people reading my translated content can become inspired to help ACTAsia and thereby help improve the lives of animals and the quality of our environment drives me.”

TANYA lives in Canada and has been writing for ACTAsia for two years. Tanya is a firm believer in holistic education and is inspired by ACTAsia’s One Health approach. “Sustainable change needs to be integrative, interdisciplinary, and creative,” she says.
IRIS joined ACTAsia China in October as a Consultant for our Education for Consumers Programme. With seven years of experience in the fashion and hospitality industry, this role marks her shift into the NGO sector. “I believe that people are born good, but that many people lack relevant information or alternatives,” she says. “ACTAsia is an amazing team that impacts people and the world through its vision.”

PEI is our Founder and CEO as well as the driving force behind all of us at ACTAsia. “Action, Compassion, Together is what the ‘ACT’ in ACTAsia stands for, and together is how our amazing team of people, including our volunteers, who work so hard, can manage to get so much done”

Unified by compassion
Whether in their first few weeks on the team or a volunteer from ACTAsia’s early days, each member of our team contributes a unique perspective and skill set. What unites this dynamic global team is a shared pledge to the future. A future for the environment, for animals, and for others. Thank you to each member of our team for embodying and amplifying ACTAsia’s vision. As 2024 draws to a close, we invite you to be part of a more compassionate future.
Join us in supporting ACTAsia’s Caring for Life Programme and be a part of the compassionate movement!
