What is Plant Forward?

Plant Forward is Asia’s only regional campaign promoting sustainable consumption across Asia.

Launched in 2022, this annual two-week festival brings communities together across Asia to celebrate plant-based food, sustainable fashion and eco-friendly, cruelty-free living.

Organised by ACTAsia’s Compassionate Choices Network (CCN), Plant Forward supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and empowers people to make everyday choices that shape a better future for animals, people, and the planet.

In 2026, Plant Forward returned to Asia — with collective action led by 10 member organisations in 8 countries.

Throughout the campaign, our Asian partners hosted a dynamic mix of challenges, community events and online activities — inviting everyone to join, take part, connect and celebrate.

🌱 Challenges

Participants took the challenge to be part of Asia’s movement for compassionate and sustainable living.

China

Plant Forward Bingo Challenge
Played on WeChat and Little Red Note. Participants completed three sustainable actions to win prizes.

Plant Forward Healthy Me Challenge
A simple 30-day health journey hosted on WhatsApp. Participants tried to achieve one health goal every day for 30 days building habits that support well-being.

Plant Forward Culinary Challenge
Culinary students with a passion for creative, plant-based cooking entered India’s first national online competition !

Workplaces hosted a Plant Forward potluck with colleagues, took the team pledge and won prizes together.

Indonesia

Plant Forward Green Challenge
From awareness to action: be encouraged to make more mindful, environmentally friendly food choices. Participants joined the “Add Yours” competition on Instagram.

South Korea

Plant Forward Campus Challenge
Participants found vegan-labelled products, organised a campus event and submitted video entries — prizes were awarded to standout student clubs.

👥 Community Events

From cooking demos to gardening workshops and sustainability fairs, communities across Asia are came together to celebrate positive social change.

China

ACTAsia partnered with schools, restaurants, businesses, vet clinics and other organisations to stage 30+ Plant Forward events across China.

India

Participants across India joined inspiring online talks and cooking demos, to be part of the action as workplace potlucks and local events took shape throughout the campaign.

Indonesia

Plant Forward Indonesia ran a discussion session on campus with academics and practitioners to discuss the role of plant-based diets in environmental, health, and sustainability issues. For a unique hands-on learning experience, participants signed up for a guided Garden Tour & Workshop discovering how sustainable food systems start from the ground up.

Philippines

Participants joined in for live cooking demos with Astig Vegan and Bahay Kubo Kitchen at the PAWS shelter, and Grand Go Gulay Potlucks organised by Youth for Animals university chapters around the country.

Singapore

Participants discovered Plant Forward in Singapore with ACRES: exploring local plant-based eateries, enjoying celebrity features, and unlocking a curated sustainability guide to compassionate shopping and dining.
