Pei’s Story

Pei Su is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ACTAsia, an international NGO established in 2006.

Pei is a Chinese sociologist and has nearly 30 years’ international experience in the field of human well-being, animal welfare, veterinary education, wildlife legislation and environmental science.

Pei is a recognised authority on issues relating to China, including political and social aspects, the exploitation of wildlife, the impact of fur farming and the implications for human and animal well-being. Pei is an international lecturer and has spoken at a number of United Nations conferences and also speaks at universities, forums and media events. She is the Co-Chair of End Pandemics, a recognised Expert at the Global Animal Law GAL Association, and an Expert Member at Biodiversity MAG

At the heart of her work is directing ACTAsia’s vision and mission through the award-winning Caring for Life Education (CFL) programme. Pei’s aim is to inspire people to understand and appreciate the world we share and to take responsibility for the protection and preservation of its inhabitants and resources.

2024: Pei was presented with Awards for Outstanding Alumni as well as Distinguished Alumni, by the University she attended in Taiwan
2024: Pei was the only NGO representative from China invited to the Global Fashion Summit – Shanghai Gala
2023: Annual Public Welfare Personality Award at the 13th Philanthropy Festival in Beijing
2020: Best Charity Figure Award at the China Charity Festival for Pei’s contribution to charitable work in China
2019: Best charitable Leadership in Beijing, by Jiemian News, Shanghai Media Group for Pei’s contribution to promote sustainable fur free fashion. She received this award alongside Jack Ma, founder of e-commerce giant Alibaba, who also received a leadership award
2017: CEVA International Award recognising Pei’s personal contributions to humane education
2007: Selected by Visible Chinese as one of the achievers in the UK’s Chinese Culture
2004: Finalist for best charity figure of the UK Pearl Award

Pei’s Biography

Pei is thrilled that her autobiography Life of Pei, The Battle for Compassion was released in the USA in May 2024, and in the UK in June.

“I started ACTAsia from nothing. It was simply my life’s experiences combined with my vision for a more compassionate world that has driven me to create an NGO that is now recognised and endorsed by the United Nations.”
