Annual Review – ACTAsia in 2024

It’s impossible to list all the incredible work that ACTAsia has achieved in 2024 but we wanted to share some of the major events:

Second Quarter:

  •  A research paper commissioned by ACTAsia examined the damaging impact of fur farming to One Health was been published in Frontiers in Animal Science. This first close review on fur farming, commissioned by ACTAsia, highlights the significant threat to human, animal and environmental health. Research led papers are vital to support our message about the very real dangers of fur farming.
  • ACTAsia’s 10th Sustainable Fur Free Fashion Forum at Shenzhen Fashion Week was a huge success. High-profile international specialists and renowned Chinese speakers attended the Forum to promote the need for sustainable fur free fashion. The success of the Forum confirmed ACTAsia’s standing within the professional fashion industry and ability to create change within institutions.
  • ACTAsia launched our annual  Earth Day programme. We are thrilled that 196 schools joined this year as part of our Caring for Life (CFL) educational programme. Students were actively involved from kindergarten through to middle school. Our CFL Earth Day programme fosters environmental awareness and animal protection and empowers the next generation to invest actively in the wellbeing of our planet.
  • ACTAsia welcomed the news that luxury fashion brand Ed Hardy China joined the Fur Free Retailer (FFR) scheme. Ed Hardy committed to go fur free in China – the world’s biggest producer and consumer of animal fur products – and the new policy will cover 89 physical stores in 44 Chinese cities. ACTAsia’s Fur Free programme is run in conjunction with the FFR, the world’s leading programme to connect fur free companies to consumers seeking ethical goods. The FFR scheme encourages companies to go fur free in the spirit of ethical consumerism.

Throughout 2024 ACTAsia featured a wide range of incredible professionals, volunteers, educators, veterinarians and pioneers in our series of Success Stories. These incredible individuals are helping to spread ACTAsia’s vision of a more compassionate word for animals, people and the environment.

What ACTAsia wants to achieve in 2025
