Pei’s Blog – The Best Bits of 2025!

At the end of the year, I wanted to look back at some of ACTAsia’s highlights from 2025

(the ones that we managed to capture on video, anyway)

This first video was sent to me from schools celebrating Children’s Day, and it made me so proud since this is a clear outcome of ACTAsia’s Caring for Life Education enabling teachers and children to take action. Nine amazing children from across China chose their own topics for “The Wildlife Wonders of Our Hometowns!” and learned their lines perfectly. Their confidence and enthusiasm really shine through — well done to them all!

My interview with Leading Lights looks cosy and festive, but it was actually filmed back in May. The interview focussed on female leadership in the charity sector, a topic often overlooked. I really enjoyed the longer conversation, especially as it included questions I hadn’t been asked before — it made for a refreshing and thoughtful chat.

As a guest lecturer at the London College of Fashion, I helped judge the final Fashion Together projects – the Masters course ACTAsia runs with LCF. Students worked in teams to explore creative ways to promote sustainable and fur-free fashion to young designers and future employees in the fashion industry – their ideas were truly inspiring, as well as fur free!

The very first Compassionate Choices Network Leadership Summit was definitely one of the highlights of the year for me. Seeing so many organisations from different Asian countries come together in New Delhi and work hand in hand to make future plans towards a shared goal was incredibly special.

For Earth Day, some Caring for Life students in China put together this lovely little video about saving water at their school. It’s such a good reminder that change often starts with small, everyday actions, and I’m so pleased the children are learning about things like this.

Our 2025 Caring for Life Summer Camp was a huge success, bringing teachers, volunteers and children together for four wonderful days in Ningxia, China. The Caring for Life Education for Children programme is very close to my heart, as we are teaching children to care about animals, people (including themselves) and the environment. ACTAsia’s teams worked very hard to make it a special experience for the children, in such a rural location.

This is a short video from the Vets for Change project, to train vets in Chengdu. Look out for Dr Duan Lei gently comforting a distressed cat — an excellent illustration of compassion for animals in action. I’m so proud of our veterinary training project, and this gives an inside glimpse of what the work is like on the ground. A longer, more detailed video is also available here.

Finally, the best news to end the year is Poland’s ban on fur farming, as well as New York Fashion Week banning the use of fur on their catwalks.  These fur free policies will lead to a more sustainable and healthy world.

I want to thank all the staff, board members, volunteers, donors and philanthropists around the world for all your support in allowing me to lead ACTAsia and create a more compassionate world for animal, people and the environment.

If you’re inspired by our vision and wish to make a positive change, please consider donating to ACTAsia. Your contribution directly fuels our efforts to educate others about the importance of animal welfare, children’s education and the environment across Asia. Every donation counts, no matter the size. Help us further our cause and ensure a kinder future for animals, people, and our planet.
