Canine Physiotherapy

Elena talked about physiotherapy, what it is, what techniques and methods can be used and which techniques are helpful after surgeries or injuries. Elena led the vets through phases 1, 2, 3 & 4 and which techniques are most helpful to aid recovery. Optimal function and the best possible surgical outcomes can be achieved through making realistic post-operative goals and considering the individual and their lifestyle. Elena discussed manual therapies, joint compressions and the use of heat and ice with or without bracing. Limiting mobility, cage rest and active rest and care. This area is a relatively new concept in China and so generated much interest in discussion with the vets.
