Plant Forward 2025

How a plant-based lifestyle can improve your health AND help animals and the environment

This year marks the fourth annual Plant Forward campaign from 16-31st May across seven countries in Asia and ACTAsia is excited to unveil this year’s events which will take place both in person and online.

Plant Forward is an annual two-week festival that celebrates the benefits of a plant-based diet and raises awareness surrounding sustainable fashion and eco-friendly, cruelty-free living. Organised by ACTAsia’s Compassionate Choices Network (CCN), Plant Forward helps people in Asia learn that the food we eat and the choices we make in our daily lives, all have an impact on animals, people and the environment.

ACTAsia wants Plant Forward to be the start of something ground-breaking. Adopting a plant-based diet is not only fantastic for personal health but it also helps to eliminate the suffering of billions of farmed animals worldwide and it helps to combat the urgent climate change issue. ACTAsia’s Plant Forward campaign can literally save lives. The Plant Forward campaign contributes towards the achievement of TEN United Nations Social Development Goals.

Plant Forward contributes the United Nations development goals

Since launching this unique initiative in 2022, ACTAsia has seen a fantastic response from our host nations. ACTAsia’s 2024 Plant Forward Campaign was a huge success with Total Engagement of 1.5m (a 27x increase), Total Impressions of 118.7m (9.4%x increase) and Landing Page visits in four languages totalling 93,558 (8x increase).

These figures demonstrate the fantastic engagement with the campaign as it inspired Asian consumers to really get involved with all things plant-based and we can’t wait to reach even more consumers across Asia in 2025.

Why is there a need for a plant-based campaign in Asia?

Campaigns such as Veganuary and Meat Free Mondays are popular in many western countries, but as yet, these campaigns are not so well known across Asia. Indeed, many people in Asia are vegetarian for religious reasons but very few are aware of the benefits of a plant-based diet for human health, for animals and for the environment.

At ACTAsia we are passionate about helping Asian nations to learn that by changing the way we live, changing our attitude towards animals, and changing our daily consumption patterns, we can truly make a difference.

Creating change ahead of legislation

Founder and CEO, Pei Su, has worked in Asian societal affairs for many decades and as a result she knows how long it can take for legislation to come into practice. The process for bringing about change is typically very long-winded. This is why ACTAsia is focused on engaging consumers about the importance of a plant-based lifestyle so that there is greater ‘buy-in’ to promote the cause. By raising awareness and actively appealing to consumers we hope that Plant Forward will help to promote the success of future legislation. As Pei comments: “For me this is a ‘bottom-up’ approach in supporting sustainable living and ensuring that these concepts are deliverable for our future global health.’
