Be a compassionate consumer

As consumers our spending power is hugely influential. Try to avoid single-use items particularly plastic ones which tend to end up in landfill or in the ocean, causing harm to wildlife and the environment. Choose reusable and eco-friendly alternatives and reduce your consumption of raw materials by:

  • Buying long-lasting items instead of cheaper, less sturdy versions several times over
  • Buying second-hand items
  • Repairing appliances and furniture instead of replacing them
  • Reusing whatever you can – such as containers, building materials and clothing

Eat less or no meat

The production of meat is one of the biggest contributors to climate change and the pollution of the environment. Avoiding animal products is also one of the most obvious ways you can take a stand against animal cruelty and animal exploitation.

  • Each second, we lose 700 square yards of land for farmed animals and their food
  • Studies have shown that meat and dairy accounts for 57% of greenhouse gas emissions released through food production and almost TWICE as much as plant-based alternatives
  • 780 million people don’t have access to water, whilst over a third of our water resources go to animals
