In China, wild animals are widely used for performances in zoos and circuses. Lions, tigers, bears, monkeys and elephants are held in appalling conditions, regularly mistreated and abused, just to entertain audiences and make money. But there is hope for improvements.

Successful 3rd Annual Workshop on Sustainable Advocacy
On June 6th, key members of animal groups from all over China gathered in Shenzhen to take part in a three day workshop by ACTAsia entitled ‘Developing Effective Animals Advocates in China’. The two major themes of this workshop were Project Management and Companion Animal issues.
Sustainable Animal Advocacy in China: 2007 Workshop
For the second year in a row, ACTAsia conducted a workshop in China to promote sustainable animal advocacy. The workshop was requested after we had given three successful workshops on the same theme in Chinese cities last year, which were attended by more than a hundred local animal protectionists.
