The Chinese Challenge
ACTAsia members have worked in various Asian countries, but we are currently focusing on China. The groups there are so new, while the abuse of animals is so widespread and growing.
Foxes, rabbits, mink, cats and most fur-bearing animals are kept in horrendous conditions, beaten to death and skinned alive.
Feeding live chickens, cows, and goats to large carnivores is common practice in most zoos.
Commercial tiger and bear farms are making a killing, as demand grows for bones, bile, and other animal parts for human consumption.
Many western companies are actually ‘exporting’ their animal abuse to China – funding factory farming practices and laboratory experiments on animals that would be illegal in their own countries.
Animals are not protected under Chinese law in any way, shape or form.
